Is my foreign driving license valid in Romania?

A driving license issued by the authorities of a country that is neither a member of the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic nor a member of the EU, and with which Romania has not concluded a treaty on the reciprocal recognition of driving licenses, is not recognized in Romania.

Even if your license is accompanied by a legalized translation, conventionally international driving license, the Romanian state is not obligated to recognize this national driving license, and therefore, you do not have the right to drive vehicles on public roads in Romania.
